What an exciting Quarter Finals that was.
Ali has now a great chance to become World Snooker Champion this year, especially with the likes of Ronnie O’Sullivan, John Higgins, Mark Williams and Stephen Hendry all out.
I was hard pressed not to shout out on several occasions and was grateful that I was in the friends and family section where I could be a little more animated as the emotions were running high all round. Ali showed a fighting spirit and resilience last night that I was immensely proud of.
They then went into the final session with the match level on 8-8 after Ali won the last four frames with breaks of 87, 73 and 64’s surging his way back into the match.
Ali then went into the evening session with a 122 to take the lead for the first time at 9-8, but a straight forward game it was not. With twists and turns at every stage, Ali kept his concentration and composure.
After much trading of frames, Ali eventually cleared up the colours at 12-12 to go through.
What an experience! This 25th Frame had the whole of the Crucible in a frenzy, the atmosphere was electric. If you get the chance to tune in today. Ali faces Neil Robertson at 2.30pm – its compelling viewing! “Come on Ali”.
